Here are some fotos of some hapa homeskillets, all of whom I met in Tokyo:

foto Brian Maeda, the first president of the Hapa Club and all-round nice guy on the right with moi. Brian was working for Time Magazine when I met him at an ACCJ meeting at the Tokyo American Club. I remember telling him that I started this organization and wanted him to be active. He was very interested and had ideas himself to start something like an organization for hapa people in Tokyo. Kevin Brian also worked for Gaga Communications, a film distribution company based in Tokyo and transferred to L.A. with them, left and then worked for Atom Films and is now with Lucas Films.

Kevin Williams (right) was the Hapa Club treasurer and also a very nice guy. We were blessed to have some down-to-earth individuals working and trying to make a great organization which became the Hapa Club which became uncontrollable in the sense of becoming too big and without a focus. Nonetheless Kevin was good at keeping tabs with all the money the Hc raised over the years at parties and BBQs. We were able to raise money for the AmerAsian School in Okinawa and the Amerasian Christian Academy in Korea. Kevin worked for IDG and now slaves away at a large Japanese cell phone provider.

Bobby Bobby Maxon (left) was one of the vice presidents, a nice guy and has a great heart. "Bobby To The Max" has always been enthusiastic about the organization which became the Hapa Club and a soft spot for kids like those at the AmerAsian School in Okinawa who are not as fortunate as many of us were growing up in our bicultural families in America. Robert, his real name, worked for Merrill Lynch and then left to work for a hedge fund and left us for a while to live in Hong Kong to head up the hedge fund's HK office. That didn't go well but he did meet his lovely wife Alisson, who's a Japina, and has two lovely daughters. He's heading back stateside to start up his own hedgefund.
Mark
Mark Takeuchi (pictured right) is an architect, no lie George Costanza, and quite the joker! I thought I was funny until I met this dude, he can make me laugh almost nonstop. He never took an active role in the Hc but was very enthusiastic and came to a lot of meetings. Mark, like Brian, are "hantai haafu," i.e. their fathers are both Japanese, which is not common for their age group, although it is more so these days. Mark toiled at PAE for a while, the moved over to GAP to design most of the stores they set up during the expansion mode and now dabs in real estate-related sales for a large multinational bank.
John
John "Boy" Seward and Ligia Benica (left) are a couple of close friends. John is a former roommate and hails from Texas so he's a homey! Ligia is a Brasilian-Italian hapa honey who hails from Sao Paulo state and an old friend who has been modeling in Japan for many years. She's still young so it means I met her when she was just outta the cradle. I actually hooked these two up so if they get married and have a son why not name it Roberto?! = )
Yuki
I used to run, not enough!, with these two a bit at the karaoke place in Roppongi, Keet's. Vanessa Handa and Yuki Minakawa (pictured right) are a couple of Japanese Brasilian hapa models. They loved the fact that I wearing a Brasilian soccer shirt, of course Vanessa didn't it like that one time I was cheering for Chile against them in 1998 because Chile was a huge underdog! Brasilians do not like it if you cheer against their team, which I rarely do, unless they are playing the U.S. of A.!

hapa Group hapa foto except for James, guess which dude he is?! We even got Andrew Bushaw (top row, 2nd from left), who has been active with Hapa Issues Forum pictured on there during his 2002 trip to Tokyo.

I gotta get some more fotos up, need one of me and Tak, the Tokyo Cablinasian homeskillet! BTC baby!
