two nights at the Lorenzo Grand Villa. It is a nice resort hotel
situated a bit far from the main drag and one has to rely on their transport as there aren't taxis per se, save
the few three-wheeled motorscooters known as tricycles. If one were to walk I suppose it would take 30 minutes but it
would be very easy to get lost and I heard it is not safe at night, even though one of the LGV's check-in clerks said it was.
After getting a ride to the main beach and seeing how difficult it would be I would not recommend it. But I would recommend
the LGV, esp. to couples, because while it is out of the way from the "action" it is peaceful and the views from the rooms and
pool area are fantastic. You will be able to see the main island of Aklan, where, if you came via Caticlan were shuttled by
boat. I paid $50 a night for a single, which included breakfast and transportation from Caticlan Airport (van ride to boat dock, boat ride to resort). A double room was going to cost me $72 a night. The room and view were fantastic as was the pool and the personnel friendly. They have two other resorts on the main beach, Lorenzo Main Resort and Lorenzo South, but Grand Villa is much better than those two. If I ever make it back I would stay there again... Don't book rooms through their site as you will get a better rate through a travel agency or online. | |
